Ride the best singletrails in the high atlas!
Endu’Rock-the Casbah is our perfect enduro-MTB trip in Morocco. We enjoy the best trails of the Western High Atlas Mountains and experience unforgettable moments with Berbers in authentic villages, in remote valleys of Morocco during this 8-day MTB trip.
Day 1 – Amizmiz region
Having arrived at the airport of Marrakech, the FRT-team welcomes us and takes our luggage. Before we start the Moroccan adventure, we will go to our local bikemechanician in Marrakech to assemble the bikes and deposit all unnecessary things. Then we leave the civilization behind us and head towards the High Atlas Mountains to reach a guest house at 2’000 m altitude. You will immediately recognize the adventures and breathtaking landscapes of Morocco. Depending on the time of arrival, we can make a first trip as a warm-up. We use the first 1’000 meters of difference in altitude of this trail for a final check of the bike.
Day 2 – Amizmiz region
After a traditional and rich breakfast, we will begin with the first 17km hiking trail this morning. It consists of flowy and technical parts, is accompanied by pedal passes and leads along a remote valley with a dry riverbed. This fun trail follows the valley with narrow sweeps and wonderful lines. We enjoy a lunch on the shore of a lake before we get back into the shuttle.
After an hour transfer, we set back a few heights back to find our second trail. This begins with a natural Pumptrack. The first section has many freeride lines with which they can try to overtake their friend, to be the first to drive the fast line in a beautiful, fragrant pine forest. This fantastic descent ends in the valley, where the drivers wait for us. We leave the Amizmiz region with a shuttle transfer of 1.5 hours. The road offers a breathtaking view of the High Atlas mountains and at this time you will probably have been captivated by Morocco.
1h 40min hour Transfer by car to the Ouirgane region. Dinner and overnight in a family pension.
Day 3 – Ouirgane region
You will never forget this bikeday. The first transfer by car over a great gravel road goes along a huge and wild valley with remote villages full of life at over 2’000 m. Ü. M .. Here we start in the first rivery meters, where you probably put some drifts into the dry terrain, followed by a fun technical section, which takes us to a typical Moroccan village. After the traditional lunch at a family, mules are loaded to help us carry our bikes and backpacks. During a two-hour ascent, we can enjoy the landscape and let us surprise you with the efficiency of the mules. After the departure of the mules and their companions, we will ride a great dusty freeride slope, where we can immortalize ourselves with the tires in the subsoil.
To finish this day, we enjoy an ingenious eight-kilometer trail, which takes us to our guest village. There we will benefit from a hammam, a huge couscous and a quiet night, which makes us dream about all these unforgettable moments.
Day 4 – Asni region
We will go two different trails on this day in the Asni region. The first part will immediately wake us with a first rocky section and we will be replaced by the pure opposite, the extremely smooth, second part. After a traditional lunch at a local restaurant, we start again with a short autotransfer and discover our last trail of the day. A wonderful mixture of up and down on a red background, which is getting more and more flowy from meter to meter before arriving in Ourika Valley.
Day 5 – Oukaimden region
The Oukaimden ski area is our starting point for the next two days. After a few minutes of the first view of the Toubkal summit and its breathtaking mountain scenery, we begin with the first trail. Here, in the first hundred meters, we need all our attention to pass through the technical and suspended places. After this concentrated passage, we can again allow breaks and follow a beautiful hiking trail in a shady forest. Then we will pedal for a while on a pleasant trail so that we can admire the highest snow peaks of the Atlas Mountains. Once our memory cards are filled with this impressive landscape, we will finish the last 10 kilometers with a brilliant singletrail through cereal fields.
We have the opportunity to visit an Argan oil factory to buy some natural product that will restore our empty bodies with energy we have earned through such an awesome ride.
Day 6 – Oukaimden / Ourika region
We start again at the Oukaimden ski resort to explore a new trail full of flow in mixed terrain. This ride shows all aspects of the biking and demands our possibilities, abilities and our own style on the natural unevenness.
For lunch, we stop in a remote village near a typical Berber family and discover their simple lifestyle.
During the afternoon, we will have some amazing trails. We use the opportunity to extend our journey time with a short but intensive ascent of 15 minutes, to later drive down to the bottom of the valley to our vehicles.
One hour transfer, dinner and overnight in a *** hotel. Wifi and swimming pool available.
Day 7 – Aït Ourir / Marrakech region
In the morning we head for a 1.5 hour transfer from Aït Ourir through the remote and colorful valley to reach a new region with other option. Everyone can let their creativity with natural jumps and curves. In this splendid place we use the time, while short pedal sections, for some “Salam Aleykum” to the friendly people in the villages we ride with the bike. Here we find an exclusive section, on a beautiful, red ridge, with a perfect slope.
After lunch on a terrace with a 360-degree view of what we discovered on this trip, we will return to Marrakech in the afternoon to make the bicycles ready for flight. We take time to slowly get back to reality, experience the last moments of our adventure in the Souk of Marrakesh and its snake charmers.
Day 8 – Marrakech
It is time for farewell to return to real life. Before we leave the country, we are driven to Marrakech airport, where we return to our home. The head full of souvenirs and stories, about our Moroccan adventure …
